Hair Restoration with PRP

PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy for hair loss is a three-step medical treatment in which a patient’s blood is drawn, processed, and then injected into the scalp. PRP is a high concentration of blood platelets surrounded by the patient’s own plasma. Concentrated nutrient rich cells and platelet rich plasma deliver growth factors to your tissue. Epidermal growth factor (EGF), Collagen Stimulating growth factor, Transforming Growth Factor (TGF), Platelet Derived Growth Factor (PDGF), Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF), Fibroblast Growth Factor and other key proteins and cells are believed to stimulate resting hair follicles and stimulate hair growth. PRP is instead injected into the scalp to jumpstart hair recovery and stimulate hair follicles.

NSD has been performing PRP for Hair Restoration for the past few years with encouraging results. A series of three treatments is the initial recommendation however individual responses may vary. The FDA has not confirmed that this procedure is effective, however, clinical evidence suggests that for those patients not wishing to commit to Hair Restoration surgery or a lifetime of medications, PRP therapy for Hair Restoration may be a beneficial alternative.
