What is it?
Many patients consider Laser Hair Removal when they are tired of shaving, razor burn, and tedious upkeep! It is a 100% safe, non-invasive treatment that uses pulses of laser light to destroy the hair follicle, by using heat to attack the pigment so new hairs stop growing within the hair follicle.
Who is a good candidate?
If you experience dark, coarse hair or ingrown hairs, you could be a candidate. It is important to come in for a consult before starting your treatment series to discuss any concerns or questions you may have.
The Laser targets pigment…so no pigment = no laser effect on the hair. It unfortunately will not work on grey/white hair.
What areas can be treated?
Bikini line, and more!
Preparation Before Treatment
Before starting laser hair removal, you should be freshly shaved. If hairs are too long this could burn the skin. You should also not pluck or wax for 4-6 weeks before treatment. Also, avoid sun exposure 6 weeks before and after treatment.
What to expect after treatment
You may have some slight pinkness for 2-3 days at the treated site but will subside. You may also notice the hairs ball up and fall out of the follicle. This is completely normal. Appointment times vary depending on the area you are treating. It can range anywhere from 15 min to an hour.
It is important to stay consistent with treatments because you will get optimal results once it is treated at each stage of the hair growth cycle. The hair growth cycle is typically every 4-6 weeks, so you should stay consistent with treatments every 4-6 weeks depending on the area. It typically takes 5 treatments to get the maximum benefit. After you complete your treatment series, you may need maintenance treatment every few months depending on your result.
