Microneedling with PRP

What is Microneedling with PRP?

Microneedling with PRP has been a popular skincare treatment for some time now. The traditional Microneedling treatment consists of producing small injuries in the skin that start a new production of collagen and elastin cells.

This treatment is great for:

  • Improving fine lines and wrinkles
  • Improving Skin tone
  • Improving Skin texture
  • Decreasing pore size
  • Improving skin resiliency
  • Producing Elastin
  • Producing Collagen
  • Improving Acne Scarring
  • and More!

What is PRP?

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is drawn from the patient’s blood sample, and speeds up the recovery process for the Microneedling Treatment. Most Patients want this addition to the treatment so they have less downtime afterwards. When PRP is introduced into the skin, it will only intensify the body’s own repair process and stimulate new collagen and elastin. It is an incredibly simple process that reaps a huge benefit!

Can’t I just do this at home?

  • Microneedling should only be done in a professional medical office setting. This procedure is a medical grade skincare treatment!
  •  This treatment efficacy does not compare to at-home microneedling devices
  • At-home microneedling devices can actually be very damaging for the skin

Is there downtime?

Yes. Every patient is different, but expect to have a few days of downtime after this treatment.

Does it hurt?

No, there is minimal discomfort! Microneedling at Northshore Dermatology is great because we offer a 30 minute numbing session before the treatment. Patients feel slight pressure if anything, but no skin puncturing.

What areas can be treated?

Microneedling is safe and effective for all skin types and several areas of the body. It can be used on areas including the face, the neck, the decollete, the arms, the hands, the legs, the abdomen and the back. Treatment can improve the appearance of hyperpigmentation as well as uneven skin tone, acne scars, traumatic scars and stretch marks.
